The club, known locally as 'The Solly', was formed in 1974 and has seen its boxers win every major domestic title available; ABA champions have included James Dickens, Stephen and David Burke, David Price, Courtney Fry and David Mulholland.

Salisbury ABC has also had its boxers represented in all of the major international championships, with medal successes via David Burke, now a coach at the club (European bronze 1996) and David Price (Commonwealth gold 2006, Olympic bronze 2008).

The club has provided a safe, friendly environment for all young people since its formation and is very proud of the roots it has created, particularly in the West Everton area of the city. It now hopes to continue its good work for grass roots boxing in the city as a Clubmark Club.
